Karyn is a
fan of innovative leadership and education in Vermont. She has a K-6
Vermont teaching license and loves working with young people. She is a
photographer and an former software engineer.
Karyn often collaborates with Sue McCormack on facilitation and public engagement projects. This spring, Karyn and Sue designed and facilitated an inclusive strategic planning process for the Visiting Nurse Association. In February 2010, they trained teen and adult facilitators for a public forum in Essex Junction to kick off a downtown revitalization effort. Karyn and Sue consulted on school climate initiatives at Harwood Union High School, Missisiquoi Valley Union High School and in the Burlington, Essex, and Milton school districts. In 2007-2008, Karyn co-facilitated a diverse Mercy Connections group using appreciative inquiry to address the issue of poverty in Burlington. From 2008-2009, Karyn worked for the Snelling Center for Government, which runs the Vermont Leadership Institute. She planned the successful Building Community in a Connected Age and Leadership in a Connected Age conferences produced in collaboration with Champlain College. From 1995 to 2008, Karyn
was employed as a software engineer. She worked for Oracle, Borland, Actioneer,
and Preclick,
developing C++ Windows software for digital photography and
database applications. Karyn earned a bachelors degree in Natural Science from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. She lives in Essex with her husband, Jim Leveillee, and their children, Feora and Bryce. They maintain a flock of laying hens, battle poison ivy, and construct a sledding luge when the snow is right.
